Dr. Joyce Choy-Pik Chiu is a California Board licensed acupuncturist with a Master of Science degree from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco. Dr. Chiu's clinical experience includes working with patients at the Stroke clinic at California Pacific Medical Center, the ACTCM Community Clinic, the Women's Community Clinic, and the private clinics of Dr. Zheng Hua Liu, Dr. Yuan-Jin Tao, Dr. Ping Wu, and Dr. Yue-Fan Hu. She is a current member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) and the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association.
Prior to becoming a TCM practitioner, Dr. Chiu earned her Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology from Stanford University and has had a successful career in biomedical research focusing on therapeutic areas such as cancer, diabetes, and various neurological, cardiovascular, and liver diseases. The combination of her knowledge in the field of Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine provides Dr. Chiu a unique perspective in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Dr. Chiu is dedicated to working with patients in the community to promote their health and improve their overall function and well-being. Dr. Chiu treats her patients with respect and compassion. She also believes that healthcare should be affordable for everyone, so she will work with each patient to develop an optimal treatment plan that would best fit his/her individual health and financial needs.
In addition to helping patients in her private clinic, Dr. Chiu also volunteers her services at several Bay Area community clinics/homeless shelters. At these locations, Dr. Chiu treats patients in a group setting and works with them on health issues such as pain, insomnia, anxiety and depression, and recovery from drug/smoking/alcohol addiction.
